Valmik Karad
After completing his education up to 10th standard in the village, Valmik Karad went to Parli to complete his college education. During this time, Valmik Karad established the first Bhagwan Baba Ganesh Mandal in Parli at Shivaji Maharaj Chowk and installed a Ganpati. It is said that he made many friends in Parli because of this Ganpati Mandal. Local journalists also say that Valmik Karad started setting up his own business in Parli by taking these friends with him. Karad's political story began in the eighties and nineties. In this decade, Gopinath Munde emerged on the political scene of the state and under this Munde, Valmik Karad started his politics.
The entire nineties were important for implementing the Madhav pattern of BJP. Gopinath Munde was emerging as a leader of the Vanjari community during this period. Gopinath Munde was famous in the Vidhan Bhavan and the ground level. Due to the shock he gave to the established politicians, many youth started getting attracted to him. Valmik Karad was also among them, and Valmik Karad, who came from the Vanjari community, was attracted to the politics of issues. In the early 1990s, when Gopinath Munde was the Leader of the Opposition, he was living in a rented room in Parmar Colony in Parli.
At that time, Fulchand Karad, a friend of Gopinath Munde, got Valmik Karad a job in issues. Then Karad would stop working at Gopinath Munde's house. He would do all that work honestly. It is said that at this time, Karad gained Gopinath Munde's trust by working for him. In short, it is said that the doors of politics opened for him due to his closeness to Gopinath Munde. In the early nineties, Valmik Karad had started doing political work in Pune with friends like Mauli Patil, Sunil Phad, Suresh Geete in Parli.
In this, a group of Karad's friends would look after all the work from Gopinath Munde's local self-government body elections to the MLA elections. It is said that Valmik Karad started making his mark while doing political work on the issue. Local journalists say that Valmik Karad first came into the news in a firing incident between 80 and 90 out of the total area. At that time, the election of the board of directors of Vaidyanath College was held. That member would be a panel.
In this election, two groups, Gopinath Munde and Professor T Munde, were standing against each other. But in the election of the college's board of directors, Professor TP Munde's group won. Twenty-three of his members and only seven of Gopinath Munde's members won. A general meeting was held to appoint the chairman of the board of directors of this Vaidyanath College. In it, the T Munde and Gopinath Munde groups clashed with each other.
To stop the two clashing groups, Nagargoje, who was the then police officer, fired a pistol and it hit Valmik Karad's leg. It is said that Karad first came into the limelight due to this incident. Local journalists say that Karad also got some financial benefits due to his closeness to Gopinath Munde. It is alleged that Valmik Karad got thermal contracts due to the thermal plant in Parli. In the beginning of 2000, Valmik Karad came in contact with Pandit Anna Munde, brother of Gopinath Munde.
Due to Pandit reasons, Valmik Karad came in contact with Pandit Anna's son Dhananjay Munde. In 2001, the Parli Municipal Council elections were held. At this time, Pandit Anna Munde opposed the Gopinath Munde group and made Valmik Karad the mayor. Gopinath Munde was not interested in making Valmik Karad the mayor at that time. But since Pandit Anna nominated Valmik Karad as the candidate for the post of Mayor, it is said that Karad always supported his loyalist Dhananjay Munde and Pandit Anna Munde.
In 2009, Pankaja Munde was announced as the candidate for the Parli Legislative Assembly. At this time, the relationship between Dhananjay Munde and Gopinath Munde was strained. Due to the strained relationship between the two, Dhananjay Munde rebelled against his uncle in the Parli Municipal Council elections held in 2097 and got himself elected as the Mayor.
